7 July 2018: Francis Jackson at 100

— In Francis Jackson’s centenary year, we celebrate the creativity and history of the city of York

St. Saviourgate Unitarian Chapel

The choir draws inspiration from the centenary year of Dr Francis Jackson, a composer and longstanding organist and director of music at York Minster. We showcase music by composers with links to York’s rich history and vibrant modern culture, including the premiere of a specially-commissioned piece by local composer Rose Hall.

  • Francis Jackson - former chorister, organist and director of music at York Minster
  • Tertius Noble - former organist and musical director at York Minster and conducted York Symphony Orchestra
  • Edward Bairstow - former organist and Master of Music at York Minster
  • Philip Moore - former organist and Master of the Music at York Minster
  • John Scott Whiteley - Organist Emeritus at York Minster
  • Andrew Carter - founder of the York Chapter House Choir and former member of the Minster choir
  • Kerry Andrew - studied music and composition at the University of York and has since won four British Composer Awards
  • Rose Hall - former member of the Micklegate Singers and studied music at the University of York
  • Hannah Loach - former member of the Micklegate Singers and studied at the University of York
  • James Else - studied composition at the University of York
  • Emily Crossland - studied music at the University of York

This concert is presented as part of York’s Late Music Festival.
